Rugby Hong Kong 10s
The Hong Kong Football Club has organised and hosted the HKFC 10s from 1986, when the tournament was first held to commemorate the club’s centenary. The club had experience of staging such events, having been the original venue of the Hong Kong Sevens from 1976 to 1981.The HKFC 10s quickly grew into the world’s best 10-a-side rugby tournament, attracting top players and teams from around the globe. GFI has title sponsored the tournament each year from 2006.
King’s College entered the tournament for the first time in 2016. On Day 1 they won two of their three pool games and qualified for the Quarter Finals on Day 2. In a very tight match they were unlucky to be eliminated from the tournament. They so impressed the tournament organisers with the brilliant brand of rugby, sportsmanship and general presentation that they were named “Team of the Tournament” at the closing ceremony.
The Hong Kong 10s is not just about rugby for King’s – it is also an excellent opportunity for players to engage with the business and corporate world in Hong Kong where wonderful connections are made and networks are developed.
In finishing 7th out of 16 teams represented this year, King’s automatically qualified for the 2017 tournament. The Hong Kong 10s will be held on 5-6 April 2017 – hongkongtens.com
